AYM Trainee Successfully Defends PhD in Health Research Methodology

Congratulations to Dr. Mahdis Kamali, who has successfully defended her PhD in Health Research Methodology as a doctoral candidate on the AYM team!
Mahdis Kamali joined the AYM Team as a PhD student under the supervision of Dr. Kathy Georgiades in 2019 after receiving her MSc in Global Health from McMaster University and a BSc in Psychology from York University.
Her doctoral work explored inequities in mental health symptoms and access to care between migrant and non-migrant children and youth, and the socio-contextual factors that contribute to differences.
As a part of her thesis, Mahdis published a paper entitled “Social Disparities in Mental Health Service Use Among Children and Youth in Ontario: Evidence From a General, Population-Based Survey” with Dr. Kathy Georgiades and AYM Affiliate, Dr. Jordan Edwards.
Mahdis is grateful for the members of her thesis supervisory committee, Drs. Laura Anderson and Eric Duku, external examiner, Dr. Carla Hilario, and examination chair, Dr. Jean-Eric Tarride.
