AYM Trainee Begins MD Program at the University of Toronto

Congratulations to Alisha Haseeb for her acceptance into medical school at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine! Alisha will begin her first year in the MD Program in August 2025.
Alisha is currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) program at Mcmaster University.
Alisha Haseeb joined the AYM team in 2024 as a project course student in HTH SCI 3H06. She worked with the school mental health team to conduct literature reviews on implementation of measurement-based care (MBC) and supported the MBC Standard Outcome Set project. Her contributions included identifying measures for assessing relationships and social support, as well as conducting qualitative analysis to better understand how youth conceptualize and wish to assess their coping strategies in school mental healthcare settings. Alisha has been a great addition to the training team and we look forward to seeing her development over the years.
As she prepares for this next chapter of her academic training, Alisha reflects on her experiences with AYM:
“I am beyond grateful to have collaborated with and supported such a thoughtful and driven team of researchers. This past year, I have learned how to critically engage with mental health literature and current practices in the field, and how to meaningfully involve people with lived experience in research efforts. These learnings have shaped my perspective on the importance of person-centered, accessible, and evidence-based approaches to care, and I look forward to applying these insights within the context of patient care as I head into medical school. The AYM team has taught me what genuine and sincere leadership, collaboration, and research looks like in practice, and I am inspired to carry these values forward with me in my future studies!”
The AYM team thanks Alisha for her amazing contributions and wishes her the best at the University of Toronto!
